Program Summary:
For many people the thought of publishing their work is a daunting experience. Whether it be a formal report within the organization they work for, or a journal article to share good practice, getting those first words on paper is a challenge. Journal publications and conference presentations are excellent ways to raise the profile of any organization, and should be considered as part of the final phase of any project. Publication is also an excellent aid to recruitment as people want to work for an organization that is seen to encourage change and innovation.
The thrill of seeing your work published in a journal or the completion of a good report is very rewarding, and the knowledge and confidence that can be gained through attending this course can be applied into many areas of your work.
This 6 hour course looks at:
- Journal publication
- Writing an abstract
- Report writing in the workplace
- Verbal presentation skills
Who should attend?
This program is suitable for all levels and disciplines of healthcare professionals who aspire to publish in journals, present at a conference, or who are required to write reports in their work.
Although not essential it is helpful if those attending have an idea of what they wish to write about.
Visioning HealthCare also provides e mail support for those who are writing journal articles for publication and have attended this course.
Educational Objectives:
By the end of the day the student will be able to:
- Develop an outline for an article for a journal publication
- Draft an abstract for a report or conference submission
- Plan how to write a formal report.
