The Safe Patient Handling for Unit Peer Leaders was an engaging program promoting the Safe Patient Handling principles that all Unit Peer Leaders or Coaches will need when attempting to facilitate change. The program flowed very well and included the roles of the Unit Peer Leader from managing resistance to the concept of Safety Huddles along with practice sessions. Heather is an excellent presenter of change management. Staff gave great reviews on the program and it provided a much needed boost of motivation.

Heather presented her one day workshop 10 Techniques to Effective Management to our Unit Managers, Assistant Unit Managers and Charge Nurses.  Since Heather requested the job descriptions for the participants in advance, information about roles obtained from the first group activity combined with the information she received from their job descriptions allowed her to individualize the presentation of the content throughout the day.  Heather was very supportive and approached difficult situations that were presented by the participants in an honest and open manner.  She encouraged appreciative inquiry and reflection to promote understanding of the behaviors of others and to assist the audience to learn from difficult situations. The participants appreciated feedback from Heather based on her own clinical experience.  The entire day was filled with open discussions and group activities.  Very few notes were necessary because booklets with highlights of Heather's presentation were distributed at the beginning of the program.

Comments from the participants unanimously requested that she return with more information and additional programs.  Since the workshop, numerous participants state they have successfully used her "Framework for Reflection" to learn from any situation, either positive or negative.

I highly recommend Heather to be an active part of any organization's plan for professional development and we look forward to her return to speak on Transformational Leadership.
