Leadership & Change
The challenges for today’s nurse leaders are formidable, yet it is ironic that many have arrived in their current position almost by default, and may have received little or no formal leadership training, particularly those in Charge Nurse and Nurse Manager roles.
Alongside the demands of leading and managing staff, dealing with the daily crisis that occur, and meeting ever changing organizational goals, there are ongoing national initiatives and challenges to be met. Leading these requires the expertise and confidence that comes from a combination of leadership education and actual experience.
Visioning HealthCare offers a variety of tools and programs that will benefit leaders at all stages of their development and in whatever clinical or adminstrative environment they work in.
Our programs will also help with underpinning any significant changes that you are making in your organization, such as implementing a Safe Patient Handling program or changing your model of care.
For those leaders who work within a Magnet designated or aspiring facility, the content of our programs includes many of the elements from the new ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® to help you in your preparations or to strengthen your existing structures. www.nursecredentialing.org/Magnet.aspx
The Leading an Empowered Organization (LEO) program is an excellent tool for organizations to use as part of implementing any new initiatives or changes. It enables leaders to recognize their own strengths and challenges, and looks toward how they can empower themselves and those they manage or lead. Underpinned by many of the principles of Shared Governance, this three day program provides participants with a structured approach to all aspects of empowerment, generates many 'ah-ha' moments, and uses a variety of teaching techniques that provide a fun and rewarding experience.
Visioning HealthCare’s Managing Change in Today's HealthCare Environment is a two day program relevant to all leaders who are either leading on a change or are part of it's implementation. Supported by Visioning HealthCare's Cycle of Change Model, it is an effective approach to change management that demonstrates how to move the people and the process through the stages of change in a cohesive and effective manner. The program incorporates the use of evidence based practice, benchmarking and suggests a variety of evaluation approaches in order to identify whether the change really did make a difference. By the end of the program, the participants will have produced an action plan that will maximize the success and sustainability of the new initiative.
The Managing Change in Today’s HealthCare Environment can also be run over a series of 7 half day sessions which enables the participants to actually experience elements of the change process as they progress through the Cycle of Change.
Our newest program, Transformational Leadership: What is it, and how do I get there?, has been developed in response to the rapidly changing environment that today’s healthcare leaders work in. This one day program examines the relevance and components of transformational leadership and demonstrates how it can be translated to practice.
Visioning HealthCare also offers a one day program that is particularly suitable to Charge Nurses and Nurse Managers. 10 Techniques to Effective Management takes participants through a variety of solutions to some of the more day to day challenges that they experience in their roles. It is interactive, ‘real’ and has immediate application to the workplace.
All of our leadership programs include the concept of reflective practice. Underpinned by the Framework for Reflection© tool we guide the participants through the reflective process and enable them to become more self directed in identifying their learning needs as they work through specific issues, projects, or as they progress in their careers.
