The Clinical Nursing Assistant is a vital member of the nursing team, and the person the patient or resident probably sees more than anyone else during their episode of care. Their contribution to patient satisfaction, the delivery of quality care and patient safety cannot be underestimated. This workshop builds upon the experiences the participant has already gained in the workplace and is an excellent addition to the mandatory education provided by the employer.
By the end of the workshop the participant will be able to:
- State 3 ways regular rounding can improve the quality of patient care.
- Identify 3 different forms of communication you can use to make your message more effective.
- List 5 ways you can contribute to patient safety as part of the nursing team.
This workshop is suitable for:
Clinical Nursing Assistant’s (CNA) Patient Care Techs (PCT) and Nursing Aides whatever their level of experience, whether from a hospital, rehabilitation, home health or nursing home environment.
and includes:
- Defining your responsibility, accountability and authority within the nursing team
- Accepting delegated activities
- The impact of regular rounding on patients/clients
- Identifying and providing excellent customer service
- Patient/resident centered care
- Making the job more than just a series of tasks.
- Dealing with difficult situations.
- How to get your point of view heard.
- Avoiding conflict but not the issue.
- Working as an effective member of the nursing team.
- The Clinical Nursing Assistant’s role in patient safety.
Visioning HealthCare will present participants with a certificate that shows attendance at 5.5 hours of continuing education. Participants will also receive an excellent resource booklet during the workshop to use during the day and to remind them of what they have learned when they return to the workplace.
