Welcome to Visioning HealthCare

There has never been a more exciting yet challenging time to be in healthcare. Implementing new technology, developing new services, applying for Magnetaccreditation and implementing evidence based practice are very demanding, yet provide new opportunities for staff development and improvements to the way we provide care.

The VHC Program Model reflects the complexities and interdependence between many of the areas of innovation and development within healthcare facilities today. Our approach is to work with a facility to ensure that our programs are set within the context of their mission, vision, values, and goals, and to utilize the positive aspects of what is already in place.

We recognize that in order for any major change to be successful it is important to look at the potential areas it can impact as well as the organizational and unit cultures. For instance, if a facility chooses to implement a Safe Patient Handling Program to reduce musculoskeletal injuries to its healthcare staff,  the change will also have an effect on the Human Resource department, due to the positive result it will have on recruiting staff and retaining those who may have been lost through injury or fatigue. It will help Administration with reducing workers compensation claims, and releasing money that could be spent on other areas. It will also reduce the number of falls and pressure ulcers helping the organization to reduce costs on preventable ‘hospital-acquired’ conditions, as well as further improving the quality of care they provide.

The mission of Visioning HealthCare is to create and deliver programs that are applicable and relevant, and which will equip nurses and other healthcare professionals with the skills to be able to meet today’s healthcare challenges. Our programs are full of practical hints and tips that have immediate application to all the staff who participate in them and which will enable them to provide the best possible care to patients. A vision that we all aspire to.
